Scenes of Jurjevanje folklore festival
Jurjevanjska draga
Jurjevanjska draga has been the central area of the oldest folklore festival in Slovenia - Jurjevanje in Bela krajina since 1964. The name was given at the first event, and is connected to the heritage of "jurjevo" ways and customs, which are well known in Bela krajina. Jurjevanjska draga is a natural amphitheatre in the town centre, encircled by typical trees of the region, white birches. Every year it is the performance area of many events, including the biggest and by far the most colourful, the celebration of folklore, the Jurjevanje in Bela krajina. Jurjevanjska draga, which admits a few thousand visitors, is the setting of the central festival programme. Craftsman market, creative workshops for children, performances of music groups, meeting of children folklore groups "Pastirče mlado", national meeting of adult folklore groups "Le plesat me pelji", as well as three evenings of folklore and entertainment programme intertwine in this beautiful natural environment, and weave unforgettable memories.
