48th Jurjevanje in Bela krajina, June 15th - 19th 2011

Jurjevanje in Bela krajina is the oldest folklore festival in Slovenia, which nurtures and preserves folk dance s and songs with its 48-year-long tradition. However, it is also a modern festival, which skilfully combines tradition with modern views of folk music and entertainment.

The 48th annual Jurjevanje begins on Wednesday day, June 15th, the opening of some accompanying handicraft and photography exhibitions, also workshops and lectures about cultural heritage and folklore. Friday till Sunday events includes performances of folklore groups from Bela krajina, other parts of Slovenia and foreign groups. We are very proud to host folklore froup BEFAD from Turkey and Poznan from Poland this year on festival.

The event, which welcomes up to 15.000 visitors each year, will be accompanied by expert seminars, the meeting of children folklore groups "Pastirče mlado", the festival of modernized folk music "EtnoFolk", numerous creative workshops and workshops for children, handicraft market, and much much more.

We are very proud that Jurjevanje v Beli krajini takes place in River Kolpa turist region which is winner of EDEN 2010 - European Destination of ExelleNce competition.
